Thinking Europe Forward
35 years after the fall of the Iron Curtain and 25 years after the Memorial Site (DenkStätte) was established, the DenkForum was launched in 2024. Its idea: to preserve remembrance and draw from it impulses for the future of Europe.
The DenkForum from 2024 to 2026
Opening with the DenkBuch
2024 centred on the presentation of the DenkBuch “From the Iron Curtain to European Unity”. Monsignor Dr. Michael Landau, President of Caritas Europa, opened the first DenkForum with his speech.
Young Perspectives on Europe
2025 saw the format developed further together with the Anton Bruckner Private University. Young people, art and culture visualised new perspectives on Europe, freedom and social responsibility.
A Look at the Capitals of Culture
2026 turns the focus, for the first time, to the European Capitals of Culture of the following year. The series opens with Liepāja in Latvia, European Capital of Culture 2027.
A Place of European Encounter
The DenkForum thus becomes a place of European encounter: people, ideas and cultures come together to get to know Europe better and to recognise and seize the opportunities of a shared Europe.
